Leon Garbade
I am the Southern region area representative. Together with Elmar Basson, I represent clubs from Hibberdene to Port Edward. We are responsible for keeping member clubs abreast of NDSAA movements and decisions, as well as safety and of course Tournaments.
About Me
I am the Commodore of Shelly Beach Ski boat Club.
I was first introduced to the sport by the late Mr Anton Gets. He got me involved in safety and started me on my path to getting accredited as a surveyor and examiner. When Mr Gets passed, I was elected as Commodore and from there I have learnt a HUGE amount regarding competitive angling from the likes of Anton VD Berg, Dave Martin and of course Elmar Basson and Mark Blewitt.
Vision
I want to see NDSAA grow and focus its time on the development of the sport as a whole. We should strive to become the leading province in the competitive arena and we shall always put you, the angler first. NDSAA should be on the forefront of all technical developments and of course maintain a strong marine stewardship philosophy.
Motivation
Get Involved! You won’t regret it. The Deep Sea Angling fraternity is a big family of friends you haven’t met yet. You will learn something new every day, you will progress as far as you intend to, and in our world, effort = reward. Deep sea Angling is a great family sport and has been responsible for my daughter and I spending precious time together on the boat, catching fish. I promise you, you won’t regret your decision to get involved.
